It was going ok, but I'm out for a bit atm because of my foot injury, I think it might be a stress fracture in my metatarsal caused by running with dodgy orthotics insoles - apparantly they can do more harm than good. I've only done one event over the winter so far, which was part of a pentathlon. I got 1.52 and v nearly 1.55 with not much training, so it was looking fairly promising. My pb still stands at 1.56 from last summer.

Couldn't resist a post here...
Helen, your injury is kind of scary after Stodges.
I am sure that for some people, orthotics are the only way forward and are an excellent solution to a problem and I know many orienteers/runners/friends/colleagues who have them and wouldn't be without them. However, poor orthotics, inappropriate orthotics or bad luck with orthotics have the potential cause serious injury (it's well over 3 years since Stodges problems started, and he's still not running again).
Please, look for an alternative, get a second opinion before you get orthotics, use only recommended podiatrists (Stodge did) and use them with caution...and if there's any sign of a problem, get them checked again
Hope you're better soon, Helen.
