i ran on the area a couple of years ago for an army event. It's a pretty fast forest (i did 9km in 54) with lots of ditches, paths and veg boundaries, with few small hills. Should be a good race, but you'll need to be fast if you want to do well.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

FCC
Rob,
Crap, me old son, excellent points to be gained at this event for the FCC and with Brit Nights to boot so we are assured of a good crowd. So get of your Lardy, get in some miles cos its fast and furious in this area at this time of the year. More importantly get your entry in before the 7th Jan before the fee goes up.
I'm about to join the party so Happy New year everybody.

Erm... I'm going. Im just making this assessment
best 4 of 8, 1 fcc race in the south, if you are a scot, from YHOA, NEOA or NWOA, its a long way to go for one race, when there are 4 in the north, and another weekend in the south which parents will be happier to go to, in south wales, as its two days. The British will also attract people down as its a big event for adults too. Given the british nights is nowhere near as important as fcc, would you risk running it with about 13-16 hours recovery time for (M18s case) about 9-10km the following day. I'm glad that my parents aren't pushing me towards doing all the races, and i know that if there was just one single regional event in the north, i wouldnt have to go. So that is why i believe many northerners won't travel to the national.
I'm sure that southerners will be there, but, like hambledon last year, i got more points walking there than i did at others where i ran, e.g the JK.

Yeh judging by the responses rob, you have been outvoted massively. There are quite a number of us remote northeners going. I'm doing the night event, and because of this thing called training I hope to be fit enough to do both with only 13 hours rest. I won't be the only one there who did one day of the Karrimor, "slept" in a very cold uncomfortable tent and then got up to run 18km with less than 10 hours rest.
I'm actually really looking forward to seeing whether my winter training has paid off or not, and two events is a sure fire way of testing that out.
