anyway, i feel i've spent long enough out there (5.5 hours for 22km in the last three visits i think) to pass on some wisdom:
look ahead: quite often you can see where you should be going and it can be easier to see your route on the ground than on the map.
don't go off like a crazy man! its going to be a long race, dont burn yourself out at the start.
dress well: not your finest tux, but if its looking to be cold then an extra thermal is advised: you're not going to be moving quickly and if you get cold you'll just get colder.
the green (east side of map) is pretty thick. if you're looking for a control in it take care. if you're thinking of descending thourgh it then think twice: its steep with ots of fallen trees. round may well be faster.
