Hey
Well, we 18 people were given a bit of a decision at the last Start w/e.
Do we want to go on Pre-JWOC for a week to 'sunny' Switzerland and do some intense race training?
Or, do we want to go on a Start tour for 2 weeks, most likely to Sweden, and do loads of quality training but without that edge that pre-JWOC has?
This doesn't mean ur definetly gonna get on what u choose tho!
I have yet to make my decision 4 sum unknown reason................
Comments/Decisons plz
Just wanted to know the sorta things people was doin
Also, this dont apply to any1 who isnt an 18 but hey, comment away

it depneds of what level of development your at.
The sweden tour is great for improving tecnique and last year i got lots out of it. Best tour orienteering wise that i'd been on.
How can you do race training without any technique?
Otherwise Pre-jwoc if its race training.
I chose pre-jwoc as a preference. but i'd love to go to sweden if i could go to both.

i agree it depends who you are, coz i think i'd benefit more from racing, coz whenever i go training, i do well and don't make too many mistakes, but i can't seem to get that into races yet! so a week of racing i guess would be better. But then again if you want to race in sweden, nobody's stopping you from treating it like 1! sorry, that wasn't very informative or conclude anything, but hey!

but to treat it as racing (sweden that is) there actually needs to be other pople treating it as a race too?
from my experiance last year. Its aimed at development. its really fun camp tho.

(i know im not 18, but i got somthing to say which is useful)
Do they overlap?
Rhys, you have probably been to Halden and Uppsala now, maybe more than once to Halden, so have a had a good oppurtunity to experience this type of scandinavian terrain. Have you ever been orienteering in central europe on the big hills? The maps may not be as difficult but its a different style of oreinteering that you will need to master. Not only that, but obviously its pre-jwoc.
You will get plenty of oppurunities to go out to sweden and train/race, o-ringen for example, but it is a bit more difficult to get yourself to switzerland.
Go for the Pre-JWOC tour, I think you could learn a lot more from it.

Go to where you haven't been
Travelling to different destinations is more fun than seeing the same scenery
(enless you've never been to Bradford and are deciding between it and whether to go on your regular holiday to barbados)
