After the plug was pulled on an official campsite, we still want to have some form of communal junior accomodation, albeit of course not what we would have liked.
In terms of where, there's now really 2 options:
1. Youth Hostel
2. Public Campsite
This is probably the best we are going to be able to manage now. If you still would like to come and run, but don't know where you're going to stay, please complete the poll above. Kids, because it's public, we can't have major piss ups on rest days, or staying up till some tiny hour. Simple as. Either you're responsible or you don't stay here.
Travel will be decided after we've sorted out possible accomdation, but it is most likely to be of public form, i.e. bus.
Lakes 5 accomodation?

None of the above Mr B, I fully intend to go, if we get an event campsite, which of course we won't, and as the social side is the only bit that really matters at multi day events then without it, I just won't enjoy it. I mean a week with my parents? They're great n all, but no, not when I could be with my mates having a laugh. Shame really, bring on Takas!
Staying up until the tiny hours is what it's all about, hearing people shout jobby at the top of their voices at 3 am is what I live for quite frankly, without that it just isn't worth not earning money for a week and having to go to bed at 10, not my idea of a holiday.
I also know its not the organisers fault for the lack of a campsite, and its a real shame, but sometimes life is harsh.
Just a quick edit, I'm half of the devil now...hehe

I guess everyone kinda knew Mr B that cos the only option left now is to go public, there was one sacrifice we were going to have to make which was of course having to say no to staying up. Unfortunate as it's not really my piece of cake either but as you say we don't really have much choice.

This is all very well but the major issue is not where to stay - a commercial campsite or youth hostel would probably work fine - but its the transport issue that is the major problem. No juniors will be old enough to drive a minibus and it's highly unlikely that there would be enough cars, so how on earth are you supposed to get to the events? At an event campsite, there would probably be lots of people with spaces in cars, even if no bus service was provided, but going to a YHA or commercial campsite you cannot bank on this - all orienteers will be spread among too many sites.
I'm not deterred from going completely just because there's no chance of being allowed to shout jobby at 3am, (though of course that is all part of the fun of multi-day events). I'd rather go than not go, as I love running in the Lakes, and I will still get to see people, but personally, because of the all the difficulties, with the withdrawal of the event campsite I won't be going unless some friendly family adopt me as their own for the week!

lol...im sticking with G! am now looking at the swiss 5 day instead.. which looks lush
i had looked forward to lakes... but without an event site i probably wont see that much of alot of people as i never do at the scottish at the actual events...
i was with peter n the lot who were looking into getting a 'junior site' and had e-mailed tourist infomation into trying to hire a field or something , one that was already being used as a carpark at one of the events maybe... but, we had a negative response... so, looks to be a public site
which doesnt appeal... ah well
scottish '07?
