What type of training does everyone do to keep fit and how often?
Do you keep fit for orienteering or orienteer to keep fit...?

just to let those of you who have dreams of international glory know, this is what the elite edinburgh crew have just decided on as a weekly training plan. these are some the best orienteers in the country at the moment.
i kid you not
mon - circuits
tue - intervals, possibly new session earlier than Martin Hymans. Kitch may measure and mark distances round meadows
wed - o when available - euoc trainings, wednesday evenings in summer term. also team sports - floorball, ultimate, small team football etc.
thurs - hills until light enough, then team terrain runs. usually arthurs seat but make effort to go somewhere else 1 week in 4. different leader each week, make effort to find tough routes.
fri - free
sat/sun most weekends are full. any free then make plans.
also discussed the pleasance circuits sessions - not perfect for runners/o'ers. possibly new session with less emphasis on arm strength and more on core and legs.
i kid you not
