This is all a very nice idea quys and I don't wanna spoil anybodys hopes but there's just a small matter of the legality of it:
Peter B wrote:Dear UMPG,
My name is Peter Bowen and I live in England, U.K. A group of people who I know have shown interest in doing thier own recording of Band Aid 20 'Do They Know It's Christmas' (under the Mercury Records record label).
Thier proposed format would be for each person to sing a portion of the song, and record it onto computer. Consequentially each portion would be put together to form a full copy of the song, as happened in the original 'Band Aid 20'. This would then be burned onto CD and then distributed at a price.
Any income generated would then be put forward to the charity, Band Aid 20.
My enquiry is as to the legality of this operation, and whether to make the whole idea legal any permissions/licenses would need to be obtained (and how they could be obtained).
Yours Sincerely,
Peter Bowen

excellent - get the entire entertainment evening recorded and on CD with the song - make it a bit more interseting - why not get everyone on stage for the chorus at the JK evening?
