From Mrs H
Experience has taught me this: If you get the opportunity to sit with a glass of wine in your hand, a map on the table and a group of friends around you with some pleasant music in the background after a couple of days' keen orienteering - then life really doesn't get any better than that
Or to put it another way:"A loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and thou besides me singing in the wilderness, and wilderness were paradise enow".
To this end I am planning an evening of gentle banter and music on Sunday March 27th at Lichfield Rugby Club (the JK Event Centre and camp site) as the social high point of the festival.
I am going to attempt to show case some of the exceptional talent we have in our ranks and so far Ross T and Andy S are already working on their play list, the Halliday girls are hoping to get back from choir in time to entertain us and I am hoping an extremely young and exceptionally gifted violinist will also agree to play.
This is not a concert or a talent contest or kareoke - it's going to be the kind of back ground entertainment you can carry on talking over if you want to or sit back and enjoy if you like. There will be some livelier interludes - Samsonite has promised us something and there will be some presentations to be made for the camp site competitions.
Are there more of you out there who could do a few tunes or songs - surely our Scottish, Welsh and Irish visiotrs could fly their flags? - and i don't just mean the juniors - any crusties who can cut the mustard on the banjo or spoons would also be most welcome - don't be shy - this is your chance to prove that orienteers are not the monomaniacs Disco Bunny would have others believe. If you don't want to post your reply in public then pm me. I'm waiting to hear from you!
PS. there does not seem to be a piano at the rugby club anyone got any idea (lightweight electronic alternative for instance )?
Tho why it needs to be in here i have no idea......cos all the juniors must read the banter forum as well, but hey....

Unlucky Paddy, she didn't remember your amazingly attractive legs. She remembered your brown shoes
