THumb or baseplate?

I used a baseplate until about a year ago, I found I was never really using my compass but now, using a thumb, I use rough bearings all the time. I found it quite easy to switch because I got a thumb with a rotatable housing so it could effectively be used as a baseplate on your thumb, but quickly I started to not bother with turning the housing and started to use rough bearings. If you want to be really precise you can use it in the same way as a baseplate so its the best of both worlds really!

I use a baseplate since i always have (apart from a clip when i was a beginner) but wrap the string tight around my wrist and thumb so its probably pretty much a thumb anyway. i often take accurate bearings so wouldn't want a fixed housing thumb (i'm not sure how accurately i follow them though)
Don't hang yourself CHS!
carry a baseplate round your neck

I've always used a Thumb Compass. So the base compass just looks too strange for me to try out...
...though maybe it will help me stay in the right direction??
Ok, I doubt it too!

I want to walk up the side of the mountain, I want to walk down the other side of the mountain. I want to swim in the river, lie in the sun. I want to try being nice to everyone.
