Wide-fitting shoes
I've seen recommendations here before for certain types of O-shoes which were narrow-fitting, but has anybody got any experience of shoes for wide-feeted people?

Yes!! I too have very wide feet. Been using Inov8 Mudclaws, but the sole grip isn't too good. Have just, this week bought a pair of the new Walshs and had no problem with them not being wide enough. Have yet to race in them. Will let you know!

Walsh has introduced a new variation on the PB, the Ultra, which is a wide fitting version. There are two types available the Walsh PB X'treme Ultra, and Walsh PB Trainer Ultra. E.g on Pete Bland's website http://www.peteblandsports.co.uk/trolle ... /index.htm
They may not have the robust upper of orienteering shoes, but people I know who use them say they are comfortable.

Ta lads.
Maybe get the feet sorted out soon at the lakes. Blisters are getting a wee bit boring.
By the way, inov8's fit soundly on me and grip well, just they don't stand up to much abuse in forest. But they're perfect for where there's rock or trails - think they just suit certain feet shapes, though.

Thanks for the Jalas tip lads. When my VJs fell apart 5 mins before going to the start yesterday I bought some on your recommendation and I can also recommend them thouroghly. No blisters from new shoes doing an M21L (even if it was too short) can't be bad.

Having now used by Walsh P BUltras for a few months they are great. Really comfortable to wear, no blisters and good support. What joy to be able to buy a pair of shoes without any hassle, and which haven't caused me pain. Just hope this isn't the kiss of death!!

Re: Wide-fitting shoes
Feet are a pretty complex 3d shape and "wide" and "narrow" on their own don't do it much justice. Because of that there's really no substitute for trying stuff on.
The New Balance RX Terrain comes in two width fittings, I use the wider 2E and like them a lot. They're the first O shoes I've had that haven't savaged my feet to some degree (Walshes collapsed sideways at the back from enormous over-pronation and took my heels apart every other run, Mudclaws hacked my toes to bits), but of course it'll depend on your feet, and the way you run (or jog, in my case...). A good selection and try everything you can is probably the best way forwards.
Pete.
