k120 review
I bought a pair of these at the british and have run in them 4 times now.
They are much lighter than VJ's and you really notice this to begin with. They are great on flat terrain, providing good grip on slippery stuff due to the dobs.
Support wise, they dont have a great deal, and the heels are quite soft, this means when running on hilly terrain they are not as good and yo can feel them distorting when contouring.
So overall, this shoe is bling bling, great for forest running, but lacks the fit for hilly terrain.
Use the k120s for the forests, fell running shoes for the hills?

i think i migh have to get a pair.
I;m running solely with innov8's atm... they are very light and fast - i've found them just as good for forest running - slippy in places but the sole design is excellent as they dont ever pick up mud that clogs the grip!
Since i need to have a pair of dobs and fell shoes
i deffo reccomend the k120/inov8 combo!

i must admit, i saw a noggy wearing them last week, and they didn't look half as good as i thought they would - a couple of runs in some marshes and they look like any bog-standard plimsoles.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

they look great on the shelves (or should i say in the compass point boxes?) but once theyve been worn, in my opinion, they look like a pair of welly-o shoes. i tried a pair on at the jk, they were comfy and padded but slipped on the heels and didnt feel very robust. i decided to stick to a good old pair of intergrators

generally they are fine. they are very light and therefore suited to flat easy running, but they are a bit suspect on steep terrain in my opinion. They seem to be robust enough for the tough stuff because of the 'welly like' material but when you get on anything a bit steep or muddy off you go sliding helplessly into trees.
But hell, they look good. all that matters

Has everyone forgotten the good old Olway Tiger ?
I've had my pair about 2 years, and they have been subject to some pretty unsavoury stuff in that time (every bramble bush in East Anglia for starters, and every rock in Wharcliffe at last years British ).
Apart from a slight lack of shiny leather on the toes they are in one piece, all studs still there and doing their job well.
Good grip, tight fit, no twisting when contouring... I've had no problemos with them so far...
Just looking out for the next generation Tigers in a more savoury colour....

i agree, they are good on flat forested "nice" forests, but terrible on the hills. There also good for paintball as I found out today. Great for those lightning fast flag runs!

There was some guy showing off his home made shoes after the HBT Bog Trot. They appear quite simple to make as well. Put a pair of 1000 Mile socks on, wrap fibreglass tape around them until they're completely covered. Cut down along the lace line and add laces and sew a rubber sole on.

no need! tried a pair of size 12' k120s on at the tiomila and they fit! amazin, now i just need to find somewhere that sells them for less than 1200:-kr!
as for making my own shoes i may still do that, version 1 would involve taking a pair of track spikes, sanding the toe plate down, gluing /wiring the sole of a pair of vj's on. version 2 sees the addition of a metal gauze over the toes, then sprayed gold with a nope the full length of the side.
the reason for using track spikes is (a) their l;ightweight, (b) the solit toe plate would protect my toes from getting smacked off of rocks which i do about once every 2 months and is areally annoying injury to get!
