narrow fitting road running shoes
Anyone know of a road running shoe suitable for very narrow feet? My Walshes (blue) are fine for off road / orienteering, but I have been unable to find something suitable for roads - can go about 4 miles before blisters set in on the balls if my feet, because they slide sideways in current shoes, but want to be able to run further. Thanks for any suggestions.

I go to a specialisst shop (in portsmouth(boo)) where they analyse you feet, and the way your joit moves, and you knee alignmentt, and lots of other stuff to make sure you get the right shoe. They normally come up with about 3 or 4 suiutable for your needs and feet, and you then try them out, somtimes you will have different models on each foot to comparee how they feel. It really is amazing what they do. The last paair of shoes i got from there just make me waant to run when i put them on. I told them what i wanted, and they got it. I have narrow feet, and I think I have always had asics. But the best thing i can reccomen for you is to try and find a good sport shop where they know what they are doing. The wrong paiir of shose can have damagin effects.

I think there's a similar one in London, which I guess is worth going to if you're really desperate. I'll ask my mate who went there last holidays what it's called if you like?
Will? We've got proper fire now!

Asics shoes also get my vote.
Unfashionable and no nonsense, though not to be overlooked, good old New Balance make their shoes in different width fittings. Happily, being a company from the People's Republic of Cumbria, they are also made in the UK, which means that poor foreign people aren't exploited in their manufacture.
Just people from Workington and Maryport.
On a (ever so marginally) more serious note, do make sure you go to a specialist running shop; preferably one where the put the effort into making sure you get the right shoes for your various abnormalities.

I have narrow feet and so had asics suggested to me, but they always gave me huge blisters on my arches. It's all about them a try at the end of the day I guess, unfortunately (and expensively).

narrow fitting running shoes
I did try a specialist running shop - Up & Coming in Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Saturday, but they only suggested one pair or Adidas shoes, which weren't narrow enough. Hence the appeal for any other ideas. I'll try Cambridge when I get back. Otherwise, suggestions of shops in Coventry (as I work there about 2 days a month) would be appreciated.

I live in Coventry but there aren't any specialised shops that i know of. There's all the 'normal' sports shops. You could try GOOutdoors in Earlsdon - they do a select few pairs. Also Sports Supplies on the continuation of the High Street. It's a really small shop but it also has a selection of running trainers but not a huge range. Do you know this area of Cov?

Birmingham Runner, is a very good shop. Brought lots of trainers and spikes from them and never been disapointed. Test out your feet and always suggest a range of possiblilties. The staff know there stuff as well.

I tend to get blisters on my arches from most of my running shoes if I don't wear two pairs of socks
So are X-Socks worth the money then? It would be nice to run blister free...
