I'm not a great controller, but I do my bit. (I admit it - sometimes I get lost in complex areas). When checking proposed control sites, it would be handy to have a GPS machine which would a) store the orienteering map, b) store a GPS fix on each control site visited. On the day before the event, when revisiting control points, this would be a reassuring aid in bad weather to find the difficult controls. Presumably the same bit of kit could also be used for assessing the accuracy of a map by pinging the GPS references for point features.
Any suggestions?
