i aint used it so im not going to vote on your poll. but i am going to tell you if your going to take night orienteering seriously get a big mumma 25W. but the fact that you live in britain means there is no point in taking night orienteering that serisouly. there are only BNC, SNC and north, midland and southern NCs, Peter Palmers and Harvester plus a few club events. But not much, how many nights events did people do this year??? people do hardly any night training in uk, all your local areas are crap and no one will drive you there, your probably going to get attacked by some strange man called hillary and you have a crap headtorch... aha!!! thats it, maybe if you go and get a well good one you will do more night orienteering coz you can.... hmm.
if anyone knows anyone from pretzl i will be happy to test it out in some night orienteering in sweden, battery life will be tested to the limit...

1) I regard 4 LED's to brighter and better quality than a 'big mumma 25W' (and believe me these LED's are bright)
2) U don't have to carry a big f*ck off battery pack round
3) I don't need anyone to drive me anywhere because I LIVE IN A BIG HOUSE IN A FOREST!!! Only the best quality style living for a to-be pro like me!!!
4) Any one else from noc who reads this, and your going to be dead meat mate!! **HA HA!!! SAY YOUR PRAYERS!!!**
NOW LOOK WHOSE LAUGHING

PeterB>>>
Have you used the pretzl yourself before? and come to think of it, have you used a big mumma 25W before?
I aint never used the Tika Plus, but I have seen people use LED headtorches before, and im guessing unless there has been some monumwental development in LED technology the tika aint going to be amazingly more powerful than the normal pretzl LED ones. And they are absolutely no comparison to a 20W (i was so excited i over exagerated its power last time). But maybe if someone has one we can compare them. and then obviously laugh at the inadequence of the pretzl...
however i must look at it from other side aswell. your right, big mumma do have battery packs (because they are a lot more powerful and give you a lot more light), but if you think these heavy then you seriously need to get down the gym. If you get a nice battery carrier, rather than the jobbie they normally sell in UK you dont notice the battery, it doesnt bounce and the foam straps are well comfortable.
was this an attempt to boast???
well done for living in a big house, your really are the man.
welll done for having you big house located in a forest, seriously, you really are the man.
but a few essential problems with this. your in NOC yeah, so im guessing you live somewhere in east midlands right? there are NO good areas in east midlands. as you said that you live in your big house in the middle of your forest and so dont have to drive anywhere. so you do all you training in this forest, so doesnt the technical challenge of orienteering get a bit simple when you have been to every feature on the map. you might be learning the art for 6 or so times, but after that your just going over the same terrain again and so any technical training that you are obviously doing is wasted. the forest is mapped yeah? what area is it, i might have a map of it. i can send you some maps of my local areas if you want, got quite a few local areas.
although they aint as nice as bronners local areas, im expecting big things from you at the british elites this year brooner.

only thing i'm running at the british elites this year is a B&B service.
although i might manage the short. but unlikely.
i've never even run in culbin with a map
unless you count the map of nairn east beach which has about 500m of the very west end of culbin on it. which i don't.

Brooner: sorry m8, i didn't read the name
Mharky:
1) I haven't (yet) used my new Petzl.
2) Neither have I used a mumma 25V, so i'm not really one to make comparisons, however IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS BOTH A PETZL TIKKA (PLUS IF POSS.) AND A BIG MUMMA 25V OR SIMILAR then it would be nice to compare them, however i can imagine that the petzl is better.
3) It was only a semi-attempt to boast
4) Well done Nottinghamshire is in the east midlands.
5) Stop being so simplistic i don't just go around doing the same training using the same features.
6) No comment over the area rivalry. It's not necessarly my fault about where I live.

Anyone who thinks a petzl (even with 4 LED) is more powerful than a 20W type is saddly mistaken. I know! Also agree with Mharky, batteries should feel to weigh nothing so get a decent back pack if you're serious.
Know you've had messages about this thing before, but where can I get a decent halogen 20W style with backpack from. I Know I want something good, just want it as cheap or good value for money as possible as probably coming from my student loan.
