I know they don't make orienteering shoes, but I've seen lots of references to fell shoes on here. Has anyone used these? I'm after fell shoes, and I know Walsh and Inov8 have a good reputation but Salomon fit me really well. Particularly interested in grip/stability.

i've got a pair of the salamon x-adventure type shoes (can't remember what type exactly) - look quite similar. Use them for all my running both on and off road and find them really comfortable, stable and with plenty of grip but not sure how good they'd be for fell races, perhaps not quite enough grip for that. Really light tho.

almost bought a pair of thse for general dossing about in, but then got swayed by the merrel chameleon instead as it was £25 cheaper.... seem to remember they were damn comfy tho! not sure they're entirely relevant for orienteering, uppers seemed pretty flimsy& the gore tex is a bit unneccessary, also less stable in rough terrain perhaps, due to the wider sole?
