Re: Quality of Life Index
Compiled by French or Americans as they class the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" as a country.
Mind you BOF often counts Scotland as a "region", and I've been at video conferences where the person in the London venue has welcomed everyone on videolink in "the regions" and the Edinburgh based audience have all hissed!

Sincec when did Americans ever think the UK was a country? It's England to them.
Who was your geography teacher? They have failed.

So do some of you when asked which country you are from really say the UK? I doubt it. I expect most give the country within the UK, or maybe say they are British. Northern Ireland is definitely a foreign country as far as i'm concerned, even if it is in the UK.

Re: Quality of Life Index
Looking at wikipedia frog is right.
Part of wikipedia's definition of country
"Some entities which constitute cohesive geographical entities, and may be former states, but which are not presently sovereign states are commonly regarded and referred to as countries. The "constituent countries" of the United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, are one example".
The United Kingdom is the soverign state.
Therefore Scotland is definately a foreign country.
So you scots need to sort out that independance, then the United Kingdom should go up the quality of life league table.

For every winner, there are dozens of losers. Odds are you're one of them.
