My favourite thing is how the rocks have changed size, and that the two small hills in the top left corner have moved. Erosion just moves so fast these days.

The boulder that our control was on looks to be in the right place on the original map!

Re: Spot The Difference
The sample map on the website was taken from Alan Heppenstall's semi-professional/hobby mapping. The map used at the event was "professionally" produced. Draw your own conclusions once you have seen Dick Towler's (day 2 Controller's) comments

Should mappers be paid if the resultant product does not meet the expected standards?

Very difficult to answer this one Distracted other than with "it depends" .
I would contend mapping is art not science and, therefore, it is difficult gusting impossible to make an objective assessment of whether a map is fit for purpose. Subjective evidence seems to suggest that some found the map at JK below the standard they expected as an M40 approaching M45 I would have needed the 1:10 000 to comment on the actual map quality at JK with any conviction - it was all a blur .
Not sure you could ever get a rationale answer to your question. There are some professional mappers who I wouldn't use and some I do.
On a thread a while ago I did express an opinion that retired amateur mappers who do it for the love of the sport, often do a much better job than people trying to make a living from mapping. There are exceptions to this rule clealrly but as a broad generalisation I haven't changed my opinion yet.

Depends on the wording of the contract between the customer and mapper, I would suggest. What was being supplied? A map? or a map fit-for-purpose for a major UK event or an accurate depiction of the terrain in 2D suitable for a major O champs. . . etc. And how was "expected standards" defined?
But seeing as the event went ahead, surely that already denotes some acceptance if the product even if the alternative options were NULL.
It's a no-win situation.
