Well it's a tedious journey to Sheffield and lonely on the way back once I've dropped young Neville off at his hovel - I''d have sent him on the train but the mushroom growing kit and Indiana Jones outfit he got for Christmas were just too bulky
Anyway - my vote goes to Roger Daltry - I'm quite sure he can clear cholesterol with a blast of that voice.
Mind you I'd like to give a special mention for Joe Cocker - that man has selflessly spent his life abusing himself with all sorts of noxious substances just for us to be able to enjoy the effects second hand.
any more nominations please....

in the "how to ruin a good song with a lousy voice" category - Bob Dylan.
I agree Roger Daltry should be high up in the overall category, but what about Robert Plant ?

Re: and the Best Male Vocalist is.....
I do rate Mr Plant - his youngest son was at school with my youngest daughter - bog standard state primary - no frills - except for the biggest Mercedes you have ever seen turning up at sports day - unfortunately I have not been able to take him quite so seriously since the fathers' race which involved running with a football between the legs - he is very bandy legged and I don't think the leather trousers helped - he had a lot of trouble
I think I'd like to bring in Mr Holly Johnson as my third choice.
oh and just to say I've always thought Bruce Springstien painfully over-rated.

In the (long) dead category - Satchmo (Louis Armstrong), Bing (Crosby), Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters.
In the old and still alive category - Jon Anderson (Yes), Mark Knopfler (dire Straits), Michael Stipe (REM), Chris Rea, Andrea Bocelli.
And (much) younger - Yoshikazu Mera
And yes, I have ecclectic tastes .

In the 'still alive and 'stood the test of time' category, I would have to nominate
Paul Rogers
- Free, Bad Company and an extremely fine replacement for Freddy Mercury on the recent Queen tour.

William Elliott Whitmore.
If you don't know him, you should. A man in his late 20s/early 30s who sounds like he's knocking 70. Either a hard paper round or far too many Lamberts.
Votes also for Paul Rogers (Muddy Water Blues - perfect), Bruce Springsteen (especially for Devils and Dust), and since I'm a bit blues themed here, Seasick Steve.
