And so it's time for Becky's customary August time rant. I think I'm going to make this an annual feature. What is it with this weather up here?!? The flat bits of Edinburgh (of which there aren't many, luckily) are presently residing under a foot of water, the Water of Leith would give the Amazon a run for it's money in the big brown churny stakes, and my flat which is a whole extra flat below the roof started to let in water at about 10pm last night. Town is clogged with people with huge brollies with no sense of their personal space whatsoever, and I had to walk to work because the bus ETAs were clicking backwards, so god knows what happening out in West Lothian. To cap it all off the north side of town is full of thespian retards that don't seem to understand that one gets wet whilst cycling or walking in the rain, so it really would be good if they didn't dawdle around in the middle of all the pavements in their "jaunty" hats and let the people who lived there actually get home after their long days at work.
And to cap it all off I can't cycle to work because I have no lock expensive enough for my new bike's insurance and my old bike's brakes don't work in the rain, as I found out to my dismay when cycling home and nearly getting caught up in a thespian on a bike precipitated bus Becky collision. So I walked as it looked like the buses were never coming, 50 minutes of soaked to the skin.
If this is the British excuse for the summer these days I'm emigrating as soon as the PhD is completed. The best thing about the festival is sitting around in the balmy evening in the various outdoor drinking spots and dropping into the odd show if you fancy it. Being confined to your leaking flat for the entire time IS TOTALLY RUBBISH!
I want a holiday.
Boo.

Re: RAAAAH!
Despite the reported dark & wet sky of Kaunas the other night I can happily report another day of blue sky & warm sunshine here in Vilnius.... let it cool down a bit before going for a run & then sit soaking up the sun on the balcony:)
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Re: RAAAAH!
nice rant!
Your flat isn't the only one to be leaking, mine was kinda soggy last night too.
Yes it's really wet, the roads were clogged etc etc, but you'd probably have got more wet cycling than walking, think of that as a positive! I walked most of way and am not too wet.
Book a holiday!

There's the occasional outbreak of Shakespeare in the Botanics, but they're usually pretty well contained. Other than that, it's pretty quiet.
It's a magical world. Let's go exploring.

Ahhh Becky you need to move north to "furry boots" city (read Rankin to find out what this means) - weather up here in god's own country has pretty good this summer and we've got the DNC to look forward to soon
