So, who's seen it? I was dragged along to the Edinburgh First night and despite being a sceptic, was pretty blown away. Edge of your seat stuff! Not sure about all this "Oscar for Heath Ledger" chat, but he was possibly one of the best villains I have ever seen in film.
What do the rest of you reckon?

I really liked it. Wasn't too keen on the fact that Bats ultimate "victory" over Joker came down to a gadget, but you can't have everything. Not the typical (super/anti)hero movie, and the better for it. Probably the first time I've come out of a blockbuster pondering game theory. To wit:
The boat thing at the end. Was that just a version of the prisoners' dilemma?

It's a magical world. Let's go exploring.

not really (trying not to give spoilers) because (some of) the outcomes were dependent on third party intervention (e.g. batman saving the day) and it wasn't possible for both sides to "betray" the other - unless they had split-second timing....
but the movie is v. good, way better than the average blockbuster / comic book adaption, owes a lot to Alan Moore's "Killing Joke" i would guess, and Heath Ledger is a cheerful compendium of insane villains from Jack Torrance to Frank Booth, with even a touch of Col Kurtz. The only thing was, whenever Christian Bale was being Bruce Wayne, I kept thinking "Patrick Bateman", half expecting him to start dismembering someone with an axe whilst singing the praises of Huey Lewis and the News....
