Re: Rat Race
Any idea of results yet? How did the orienteers do? Looked on the event site... but nothing yet (I presume they're still recovering!)

Re: Rat Race
Only prologue results were available at the Event Village, so no real idea of results. Certain orienteers had to be issued with specially small T shirts, as the medium size completely covered their very short running shorts! Bruce Duncan was last seen declining offer of a berr and heading on bike to a bed somewhere in London.

Re: Rat Race
results here:
http://www.ratraceadventure.com/upload/ ... cation.xls
Chris and Janine's Sleepmonsters team finished in 4th while James Williams and Clive Parry both did well with their respective teams, James's team Urbanadventuregear.com won the prologue and crossed the line in 3rd spot but a missed control at Wimbledon has dropped them down the results, Clive's Helly Hansen team finished 5th overall.
Thanks must go to SLOW who had lots of helpers on hand over the weekend and run a couple of orienteering sections at Richmond and Wimbledon.
full report to follow at some point.
Also, the Edinburgh race was on Adrenaline Rush on Sunday morning (good timing, when a huge chunk of folk who'd want to see it are already running around the city!), did anyone see it? Apparently its available on 4's On Demand online tv service thing.

Re: Rat Race
Hey Hey!!
who is copepod? i never know who these people are!!
i declined beer as i was pretty darn tired, hooning all round town sorting stuff for you racer kids!! and i'd been out on friday night and got a little boozed!!! and it was a 30 min cycle home for me, that plus a beer could have only gone wrong!!
top race though, just in the weather window too. the ab at twickenham was great.
hope to be back race side next year!!

Re: Rat Race
Should point out that Tom Gibbs in the winning AAM team, and Pete James from 3rd place Inov-8 are also orienteers, and pretty good ones at that, if not Nopesport members (or particularly active on the O scene nowadays). No surprises to find top orienteers in the leading teams - more of a surprise if anything that the 2nd place team was being navved by somebody who isn't really a serious orienteer, though he has been seen at the odd event or two.
I resemble that remark!

when seen on the sunday, at various places, 2nd place team were practically attached to the first place team which might explain things

Map-in-pocket Adventure Racing: it's the way forward. Never works for me mind, since I'm generally too fat to keep up with people (including my own team).
Brucey, too many excuses pal. Just blame the fact you're still being sick, lame and lazy...

Re: Rat Race
Anyone need a partner for rat Races this year, starting in Birmingham, or part of team of three.
This will be new to me, but very enthusiastic. Great orienteer, keen cyclist, like to try kayaking, no good swimmer.
Yorkshire based.

Best place to search for potential Rat Race team members is http://www.sleepmonsters.co.uk/forum - and post your profile, too.
