Surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, it must surely be the most ridiculous waste of 400k ever? (Although this is obviously small change compared to the overall cost of the games)

"The design brief was for an emblem that represented the four key 'brand pillars' of access, participation, stimulation and inspiration, culminating in the brand vision of 'Everyone’s Games'."
Ahem, lovely attempt to reach the youth but nu-rave is going to be so passé in 5 years time, its so passé now. Graffiti like maybe, but it'll be quite easily turned into the word loser if any artists get their hands on it, as to some other interpretations of it...
so much criticism:

there's already a (somewhat pointless) petition to get rid of it with almost 13,000 signatures.

Well surely if ever there was a case to opening the design up as a public competition this was it
would have applied before the first design was drawn. Offer a nice £50,000 prize to the winner - celebrity panel of judges - you know Laurence Llewlyn-Bowen, Lord Coe, steve Regrave etc - great publicity, great public relations - you know "The People's Emblem".access, participation, stimulation and inspiration,

It is a crap logo. the four parts are random, and whats worse is chinese people will think its london 2102.
The best one i saw was a 12 year old who sent in to BBC breakfast, just olympic rings with london 2012 written inside (that looked a bit rubbish but simple to change), with a monotone 'impressionist' tower bridge in the background. looked good.
just read this back, i'm not being sarcastic by the way, the tower was very good! unfortunately not one of the alternatives on bbc website.

Pictures are better than words because sometimes words are big and hard to understand.

This whole thing makes me feel sick. Some idiot gets 400 grand for that piece of utter s***e and we're forking out almost a grand each to go to the World Cup Races and do some actual real life sport next week.
Words cannot express the disgust!
Mrs H is bang on the ball, get the seven year olds involved!

I didn't watch the whole thing, but at the start of Newsnight where they say what's going to be on the show one of the things they said it might look like was "Lisa Simpson doing something rude". It so does look like that!

Is anyone going to come on here and actually say they like it then?
God I hope not, what a bag of c**p it is, and a ridiculously expensive bag at that. Mrs H is right, a public competition with a cash prize would have been so much better for a fraction of the cost, and the finished article would have had so much more credibility.

Two good points have been made about this logo:
1) What was the matter with the bid logo? I assumed they would be using it- its simple, classy and effective
2) They could have actually turned the whole thing into a moneyspinner by having a national competition on tv- everyone seems to be obsessed with this format at the moment.

you're right - it's beautiful
I saw someone compare the new one to Davis Brent's "Office" dance ha ha ha.
Might reconsider my volunteer offer if that's what the T shirt is ging to look like.
