If you are bored at work or looking for a distraction from revision you could always check out the Adventure Race World Champs tracking, a lot slower than the orienteering trac trac but still as addictive. Just go to http://www.sleepmonsters.co.uk and down the left hand side select 'Adventure Tracker'.
An update to the arcticle: the race start with a prologue on the Isle of Rhum on Saturday. On Sunday, they started and kayaked and portaged via Eigg, Arisaig, Loch Morar and Loch Nevis. Trekking through Knoiydart and biking up to Glen Affric, with some rope work at the WOC 99 classic qualifier at Plodda. Last night they swam across Loch Ness, with the leading teams currently going through 'Monarch of the Glen' country and are to kayak Loch Rannoch and Rannoch moor. The next couple of days will see the teams biking the West Highland way, climbing all over Glen Coe and finishing off on Ben Nevis.
Of the teams with orienteers:
Ifor Powell (team 21 - Inov-8/Intellident) and Chris McSweeny (team 24 - Sleepmonsters/Inov-8 ), their teams have had members drop out due to injury but both are carrying on unranked with depleted teams.
Steve Birkinshaw and Pete James (team 14 - Inov-8/Gore Tex), an injury to a team mate has lead them to drop out completely.
Heather Monro, Joanthan Emberton and Phil Scarf (team 31 - planetFEAR) are still going strong after a slow kayak and are making up places.
But currently Chris Forne (team 1 - Nike), a kiwi orienteer, and Alain Berger (team 9 - Wilsa Helly Hansen), ex Swiss WOC runner, are fighting it out for the lead.
You can leave messages for the team by clicking on the envelopes on the leader board.

Nordic Walking is what the old doll's do round Gothenburg to keep in shape. Some conman who makes ski poles has somehow managed to persuade all Swedish women over 40 that Nordic Walking is the ultimate fat burner.
I bought some ski poles once and tried it with a rucksack full of rocks on my back in the forest. Needless to say it was a total waste of time and never did it again.
Bring back the sauna belt!

Dids is right again. Was 'invented' by Exel in Finland in the mid 1980's after a few poor snow seasons decimated the market for XC ski poles
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)
