I'm hungover and not enjoying work too much today.
I don't remember last night too well but I do know I was in a hot tub in princess street gardens with designated driver. Oh god it's all flooding back now, sorry for the jobbie chat last night, too intoxicated to be let out that's for sure!

You can't expect to reach the top without a little climbing!

At Furrow Hoppers Relays, held at Blandford Army camp, yesterday 8 teams out of 12 were disqualifed for missing punching the same control on the shorter Light Green course. Two controls about 40m apart, but completely different features!! Our mispuncher said they never bothered to check codes or descriptions, but did wonder as they'd been there on a different course!!
The winners were the 11 Signals Regiment, who live on base!! At least they check codes. Despite this a good fun event in very hot weather.

What do you expect in Sweden ?
Chat from the Burgh -
Yesterday was rat race day - it was a scorcher.
Janine's team won,
meanwhile James found his 2 substitutes; Aislinn and Jason.
Saturday night down by St Margaret's Loch I am watching the race and see someone being piggy-backed off the hill, I suddenly realise it is Jase carrying Aislinn - not good given that it is 4 weeks to WUOC.
Team down to 2 - I joke with James and Jase about joining them in the morning (7am start - unlikely!!).
At 8am the race appears in Marchmont for some street - bike - O'. James yells at me that they'll be in the Pentlands in a couple of hours "maybe see you there I say" I ask a more stationary person what the route is in the Pentlands and cycle out .
So at around 10:30, just above Castlelaw Fort I jump on my bike and join the Rat Race.
Within 10 minutes Jase gets cramp in both thighs -
Team down to 1- Taking Jase's SI card and all his food and James and I head for the trail run round Roslin Glen. (very nice by the way). The midday heat seems to take it out of James, he gets hot an tired and dehydrated and cheesed off. By the time we have cycled over to Dalkieth James has decided he has a long drive home
Team down to 0.
This leaves me as the only remaining non-team member. So off to Musselburgh, skip the kayaking, (the organiser knows my previous) back in to Nidrie for Karyoke. Craigmillar Castle (where Aislinn is soaking up the sun), Cameron Toll to dress up in a tutu - (why !!!!) The Cowgate fire for a rapell and some bouldering and finally in to Princes Street Gardens to conquer the infamous banana wall, alone, in a single bound. Ha !
Luckily Aislinn's ankle seems not too bad.

what Kitch has neglected to tell you, is that he completed the activity in Craigmillar Castle A LOT quicker than any other team!
modest to the end....
Then there is also the "Final Hurdle" a large slope covered in butter and bananas. Most teams struggling on it. Forming a three person ladder and inching to the top.
But not our Kitch. Straight up. Wondering what all the fuss was about. Did you even break stride?
awesome.

They had that bit on film, as we saw it on the big screen whilst waiting for the prizegiving! Strangely we only got given T-shirts and caps to dress up in, so you must have been special
BTW worked out who you were when Jase pointed you out on the screen, but actually met you a bit earlier, as I left PSG at the same time in the afternoon - it was me who remarked about it feeling strange to stop at a red light , so a belated hi!

I don't think you'll find an admission there, Bruce - the words were very carefully chosen
Anyway, just because you don't stop at red lights doesn't necessarily mean you jump them...

Rat Race Unfair! What! Scandalous!
Seeing as everyone's bantering on here. Here's something for Pyrat's team and the Duncan. The Viaduct in question is the LARGE Ordnance Survey STANDARD symbol on the map inbetween CP's 112 and 113. It is the only one on the map in that area. Alas, I wish I had given the grid reference for it now, as I do intend for the event event to be entirely fair and never to chance or lottery, but I didn't expect you to miss a feature quite so HUGE.
Very well done on your 4th place. You have my attention now, however brief.
Thanks for posting the report though, and glad that you enjoyed the event.
Podium next year. Nopesport A, B and C.

I think grid refs for the special activities would be good.
They are checkpoints after all and all the other checkpoints have a grid ref.
I think I showed you the map I was given and the guys had also misinterpreted the Kayaking stage. Having read 'go to the viewpoint carpark' they had marked the route to the OS Carpark symbol by Musselburgh race course rather than the OS viewpoint symbol where they were meant to go.
Grid ref is definitely the answer.
