On an expedition to South Greenland in 1992, our Chief Leader had to call all members together for a complaint about "indiscriminate turding". It must have been males, because the female trench had a lovely view over the icebergs in the fjord, whereas the male one didn't have a view of anyhting. For a full discussion of the topic see "How to S*** Around the World; the art of staying clean and healthy while traveling" (2006) by Dr Jane Wilson Howarth, a GP in Cambridge, who has lived in Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia etc and led caving expeditions in Peru & Madagascar. She included a few anecdotes from 2 WAOC members. The first edition (2000) was called "S****ing Pretty", but Americans, where the book was published, didn't get the joke, despite the earlier book "How to S*** in the Woods: An environmentally sound approach to a lost art" by American Kathleen Meyer (1989)
