Freshers 2004
Moderators: [nope] cartel, team nopesport
I think that if we dont make it a uni's oinly trip we will start to loose sight of why its been considered and investigated. If we open it to any one who wants to come we wont focus on the freshers we'll be trying to keep in the sport. besided, how difficult is it to get to venice on your own?!
Argue for your limitations, and sure enough they are yours.

accommodation
There are some hostels near the station but the HI one is over on an island and has curfew and stuff. About 7 of us stayed in a big room overlooking the grand canal (amazing) when we went after italy 5. it worked out about 15euro each. if you could get a whole block organised beforehand you'd be sorted but mostly you get these rooms by chatting to a few random people in the station and trying to get the best deal. (probably not a good idea if there's 50 or you.)
oo you'll have a great time. just don't take andrew powell he nearly got into trouble for pissing in the canal. waterways got him back at the cambridge sprint-o though.

if i am a 'fresher' at edinburgh this autumn then i'll organise a pre Italy social - a video night of essential viewing: 'the italian job' for some pommie italian bashing, and maybe something like 'moonraker', its a crap movie but it's got a crazy speedboat races through the venice canal system...
