just been listening to a "heated" debate about the new smoking laws (it seems most companies are enforcing the law early!)
people complaining that they have to stand in the cold
that they are being treated as second class citizens
that they will hide the fact they are smoking to get longer breaks
blah blah blah blah blah
dirty smokers.
It has always been a pet peeve of mine that not only do they complain about the cold (don't smoke dumbass!) but that they get to have several breaks during the day, whereas the better people have to work throughout the day. Second class citizens!! are you kidding?!?!?? people who don't smoke get the rough end of the stick. its about time the tables were turned.

can't really vote since it isn't banned here yet - but it should be
don't think any smokers will use this forum though so a little biased poll
Our Union just held a referendum to ban smoking in the union. Big majority to ban it - so they don't.

At the end of the day its their choice and killing them. I'm not that adverse to it until someone lights up in a confined space -or when you leave the pub and the eyes are stinging! But then are pubs really going to abide by the laws. One of my locals the landlord smokes like a chimney and he has a wide fanbase of smoking locals who without a doubt will just sit in their usual spots and smoke -can't see it catching on unless the government offer some alternative -now i've heard of this thing called snus -anyone enlighten me?

I agree with Godders... it's all very well banning it inside, but people just stand right next to the door, so you have to go through them, and when the door is open you get a nice fresh breeze of smoke. I think i americs you can't smoke within a certain distance of public buildings... what i personally would do is kill everyone who smokes. but i'm not PM yet.

I'm all for it. Can finally go out in the evening and not have to put the clothes i've worn into solitary confinement while the smell of smoke goes away. A few bars in Leeds have been non-smoking for a while now and a few of them have been very popular.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

Smoking in pubs/bars etc got banned here in Sweden last June. People go outside if they want a fag. No one complains. Bar profits have actually gone up since the ban. People here can't believe it wasn't banned years ago....I'm pretty sure we'll all look back in 20 years and think how stupid it was that people could actually smoke in public places.

My employer is using the excuse of Scotland banning smoking, to roll it out in all their offices in England and Wales. Soon (although no date yet set) it will banned in all buildings and on the premises.
Smoke rooms will be cleaned and put to other uses (games room would be good) and outside smoking pods will be removed.
Let the fun with the smokers begin!

I seem to be the only one voting for smokers rights so i suppose id better explain myself! I am not a smoker but to be honest it doesnt bother me.
OK your clothes smell the next day but what sort of minker goes on wearing the same clothes after a night out? Maybe people with specific allergies have a point but i think the whole line about being killed by passive smoking is a bit over the top, most people are doing more damage to their bodies by other means as wide ranging as alcoholism, unhealthy eating, overtraining at sports, flying on planes, eating red meat, etc. At the end of the day smoking is a pleasure that these people have and yes its is a vice thats bad for them but if they want to damage their bodies then its their lifestyle choice.

Love it in the South of Ireland.
Can't wait until it arrives over this way in March.

I want to walk up the side of the mountain, I want to walk down the other side of the mountain. I want to swim in the river, lie in the sun. I want to try being nice to everyone.
