british alc-o champs 2005 anyone?
well the scottish was a roaring success (or should that be hurling?) so i was wondering the feasibilty of a proper event. we'd need somewhere out of the way, sponsorship from a beer company, and of course somewherre to have a massive party afterwards. anyone any ideas?

the cambridge sprint-o alc-o is probably the biggest seriously (
) contested proper alc-o event. it's normally about the beginning of november and once the formalities of the actual sprint-o is over there is an elite alc-o and one for those with weaker stomachs. traditionally the winner of the alc-o downs a bottle of wine at the evening party/prizegiving so it might be tactical to go for the lesser medals..

You should go, the Cambridge sprint-o is top class. Fast, short, sharp, under-pressure, spectator friendly orienteering x 2 or 3. Followed by alc-o and usually a good party. And people from other Unis can see the weirdness that is cambridge. i remember staying in one girl's "living room" in some posh halls, yeah she had a living room AND a bedroom, both massive.

anyone got any idea when this is this year?
also, EUOC are organising a weekend of crazyness incorporating the East of Scotland Championships along with banter relays and probably lots of boozing, there was chat of some form of Alc-O alongside all of this as well but i could be corrected on that one.

there is was may still be some sort of crazy alc-o chat involved with that... but i have another plan up my sleeve.
whether it actually happens depends on how organised the rest of the weekend is looking of course....
more to come.

Towards the end of November I think, but as I'm not on the CUOC committee anymore, I'm not sure.
I've emailed the organiser and planner to point out this discussion to them so hopefully they'll get in touch with confirmation at some point.

if there's enough interest i'm sure an alco could be arranged for the PT just to add to the entertainments! Not so sure about having a marquee on site for the boozing, but maybe a club tent or 2

ahh. measureable success.
have finally unlocked the secret to unlimited Internet access at work (the company limits us to 30 minutes a day!)
Alc-O good.
Tactical better.
Reef banned.
Considering how long it took me to finish that last leg, i think some form of level "playing field" could be established for the next one. Perhaps something along Wattoks pub relay idea.
