a classic - myself, dids and dave donaldson went over to goteborg in march 1997 to train before (or it might have been after) the spring cup... we were training on partille, for those of you who don't know it its a beautiful pine area but with big marshes and long open marshy rides. Our friend Matthias had put out white toilet paper controls the day before for a 7km course, but overnight it snowed about 2ft. we went out anyway, it was still snowing really heavy. couldnt see any of the controls and it was really tough going. being of a slightly heavier nature, i would often go straight through the snow and knee deep or more into marshes and streams. you couldnt see the rock slopes either and we were all falling down them. dids and matthias got ahead and i was left running with dave and another swedish bloke anders.. we were all so buggered. out for over 2 hours including the run out to the area, i bonked about 400 metres from matthias' flat.. blabar soup sorted that out... awesome

Ewan and myself were doing an interval session on Arthurs Arse, and in came an almighty blizzard, we finished it off, then headed up to Kinguisse, stopped the night at Ewans and went out for a 2hr X-country ski round the forests then a 45 min training run round some more harsh terrain, was well shagged at the end, but what a way to train

I organised an informal short race from the start of the event, nailing it down to the finish, with the slowest person getting pelted with snow-balls on the run-in. Unfortunatelt, I chose to race against Lilywhite+others, who were all better than me. So guess who got all the snow in the assembly area down their o-top.
Now, I know you're a feminist, and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.

training weekend a couple of years ago at Trevor Beck Common - snowed the night before so even getting to the area was entertaining. Was blowing a gale and snowing as I was 'hanging' controls (on the ground with a big rock in), which then got a bit buried in the snow before the first people got to them. After finishing hanging I then sat in my car wondering whether anyone was actually going to make it or whether I should just go out and get all the kites back straight in again so I could go home and warm up...

aforementioned jk in the snow - a crew of scots who now frequent certain o message boards missed the start of braddies short race ambled down the hill inventing the new sport of 'extreme' or 'freestyle' o, by jumping off every cliff we could find. great fun, one day we'll conquer the world with the skills we learnt on Tir Stent.
