Broken man, beyond repair - breaking for spares.
Ribs: One broken, others good condition.
Arms: Dislocated finger, few other old injuries but basically sound
Legs: Severely bruised right hip, other parts worn but still go
Brain: Reliable navigator although some trouble at night recently
Moral of the story? You can't teach an old dog new tricks, especially snowboarding. One hour of that = 4-6 weeks no running/canoeing/climbing...

Oh Fatboy - you don't want to be one of those nasty boarders - sweeping all the nice snow off the slopes and yahooing all the time! Anyway - blades a bigfeet are more fun if you want a bit of a change - even did a bit of landlaufing this year - seemed to have aches in bits of my body Ididn't know I still had!
Hope you are right in time for the JK!

I figured I couldn't knock boarding until I'd tried it and now I can knock it as much as I like! I tried blades last year and they're very very wrong - it's like having no steering! I will stick to skiing from now on, just as nature intended. JK - not doing Brown Clee anyway (still can't forgive the place for 2 hours of boredom 10 years ago) but may have to switch to short for Cannock Chase now. I was just reflecting how ironic this is as we were just talking about losing entry fees due to injury. Hope I'm fit enough to run the Scottish 6...

You should be alright for running from your broken rib in a couple of weeks - no Kitch style intervals though, and it'll depend how badly it's broken. Cracked one of mine three weeks ago and it's ok-ish now - didn't fancy climbing at PFB Jnr's birthday party at the local climbing wall on Saturday though.
As for messing about on the river

It seems rather a coincidence that you both have cracked ribs - do you think being fat has anything to do with it...........
I'm quite surprised you didn't like blades - weight is meant to be an advantage! - I like bigfeet myself - a bit like skating downhill and you can go anywhere - made me feel about 19 again - should be on the NHS as an alternative to HRT

I dare say flipping over my head and landing all 95kg on one side on ice probably had something to do with it yes.

Anywhere as long as you don't want to turn and there's no more than 1cm of powder? Don't understand why weight is more of an advantage on blades - surely you sink more?

Well I've heard that if you weigh less than 65kg - which of course I do
- it can be difficult to get them to flex - but perhaps there's an upper optimum limit..............perhaps I shouldn't have said that

I'm sure it was a skill or bravery deficiency rather than a weight deficiency. I'm thinking I'll stay with what I know from now on and hopefully stay injury free. I'm not sure why I wanted to leave the relative safety of the tops of my skis really?!
I hope so but I can report 9 days is not enough - had to retire on Saturday night and I've made it a whole lot worse - hence going to the quack today to find out what is causing so much pain. Was having a crap run anyway

I left it 18 dasy before I ran (apart from the badge event the day after

I didn't drive for a week either cos I was in NY, which helped as the PorkyFatMobile doesn't have PAS.
...but hey, mine had 10kgs less impact when it broke

they tried to break you
Looks like they'll try again
Fat boys never lose it
Fat boys never chose this way
Fat boys never close their eyes
Fat boys always shine
You got sirens for a welcome
There's bloodstain for your pain
