been out on my bike, and managed to fall off again, screwed my bike....and most of the left side of my body but...esp my wrist, have looked on the web but cant see much useful info, has ne1 ever done nethin similar...i think i must of put my weight onto my hand as i fell, the hand i fell on is darker in colour than the other, is swollen on the top, and hurts alot when any pressure is put on the bottom (palm side down), my hand in general is pretty numb and wont move much up or down....
is this just bruising? theres no chance it'll of broken? or am i better off just gng to the docters?
ouch....

Nopesport's great and that...
But do you not think it would be better going to the doctor rather than waiting for a few peoples finest guesses about what's wrong

I fell off my bike onto my right hand a couple of years ago. There was no swelling but it hurt a lot to move it (pretty much the same movement issues as you have). The doctor said I had a hairline fracture in my wrist so I had to have a cast on my arm for about a month. I'd reccommend seeing a doctor.

whatever you've done to it, make it cold to get the swelling down - put some ice, bag of peas or similar on it. I wouldn't classify that sort of thing as a "sports injury", so doctor is best bet especially if it's very painful.

Sounds to me like broken scaphoid bone. Get down to A&E and get it x-rayed. If you hold your hand palm downwards, spread you fingers and raise your thumb upwards. The scaphoid is in the bone inside the thumb tendon. Push here, and if you scream, it's broken. It can take a long time for the pain to get unbearable. I once broke mine at 8am and thought I'd only jarred it. I cycled to work and only went to A&E when it was really painful - about 8pm.
Get them to put a light weight water-resistant cast so you can still train.

Was trying not to worry Jene too much - but mine was in plaster for six weeks and then had to be set in a different position for a further six weeks.
