I won't be there to savour the EUOC trip up north this weekend but I'm sure it will be as banterous as usual. For those who don't know it's a bit of a tradition for the captain to write a poem about the lassies and for them to write one in response.
Here is my poem from last year. Just incase you're wondering I wasn't trying to be obscene but if you face the challenge of trying to include "cock up the beaver" it's a bit hard not to be.
Ode to the Lassies
One night in the highland village of Kingussie,
the wind carried a strong whiff of pussy
Awake in the girls' room was Heather,
who was partial to chains and tight leather
She tied up the sleeping Glaswegain,
and tore off the clothes in her nether region
Trapped in her bed Jane felt she had a fever,
but calmed down when she realised it was just a cock up the beaver.

i think from last year the words were shock and awe as a shy steve worked his way through this poem of utter filth. this then left us all in fits of laughter.

anyway want to carry on and do an ode to the lasses/fellas of british orienteering?

Scottish Poem
The Thistle of Scotia
Let the lily of France in luxuriance bloom,
Let the shamrock of Erin its beauty maintain,
Let the rose of fair England still waft its perfume,
But the Thistle of Scotia will dearest remain.
Twas the badge that our fathers triumphantly wore
When they followed their sovereigns to vanquish the Dane,
The emblem our Wallace in battle aye bore;
Then the Thistle of Scotia must dearest remain.
It blooms on our mountains, it blooms in the vale,
It blooms in the winter, in snow, and in rain;
The type of her sons when rude seasons assail ~
To Scotia, his Thistle will dearest remain.
Let the lily of France in luxuriance bloom,
Let the shamrock of Erin its beauty maintain,
Let the rose of fair England still waft its perfume,
But the Thistle of Scotia will dearest remain.
Twas the badge that our fathers triumphantly wore
When they followed their sovereigns to vanquish the Dane,
The emblem our Wallace in battle aye bore;
Then the Thistle of Scotia must dearest remain.
It blooms on our mountains, it blooms in the vale,
It blooms in the winter, in snow, and in rain;
The type of her sons when rude seasons assail ~
To Scotia, his Thistle will dearest remain.

it'll be hard for me to get anywhere near as good an ode as steve whipped out last year, a sterling performace from the lad and i've got my work cut out, i'd forgotten how filthy it was!

It seems the scots are constructing their own odes, so I am going to spend the afternoon ( After training of course) to try to get an equivalently(?) impressive song. It will take a lot of beating though.
Now, I know you're a feminist, and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.

i wrote a well filthy poem a few years ago when i was captain, but i can't remember any of it, or the rest of the night for that matter until i climbed a tree and the branch snapped. oh, and asian pissing off a bridge. oh and almost getting into a fight with the aboyne football team. and bruce peeing in a purple cup. but that was the year after... good old scout huts...
