I've nicked this from somewhere else, and thought it would get a decent response on here. So:-
Are there any songs that it would be appropriate for another artist to cover? For example, after his recent series of four-letter outbursts, perhaps Elton John should cover Eamon's "F*** It"?
Appropriate Covers?

a pipe dream (no pun intended- you'll see) of mine was to hear the darkness cover weezers 'hash pipe' i just think his voice would make it mega, as well as some nice guitar work.
this was in the worst song thread- aqua, barbie girl: coldplay have done this live, i would like that released or something!
you should listen to jo whiley on radio1 at 10am. sometimes she has artists in her 'live lounge' at 12 ish. embrace covered a d12 song, jamelia covered a linkin park, etc. that is really good for throwing up dream covers by bands who can do them well.

a, the joys of trying to please people with music. gaz, give up now, its impossible. u always get whingeing, unless u play a specialist night, like playing hip hop at a hip hop night. general appeal music nights are impossible.

fraid to say that the beautiful south have done an album full of (apparently) awful covers with a truely awful title: Golddiggas, Headnodders & Pholk Songs:
1. You're The One That I Want
2. Livin' Thing
3. This Will Be Our Year
4. Ciao!
5. Valentine
6. Don't Fear The Reaper
7. This Old Skin
8. Don't Stop Moving
9. Till I Can't Take It Anymore
10. Rebel Prince
11. Blitzkrieg Bop
12. I'm Stone In Love With You
i dread to think...

Recently, I heard an amazing version of I Believe In A Thing Called Love (stay with me on this one) by some country band from the Suthern USA. It was all banjos and slide guitars and that kind of chat. It just worked really well. Better, probably.
Elbow's version of Independant Women by Destiny's Child. Mint. Music to warm the cockels of a miserable northerner's heart.

Hayseed Dixie?
And from the site, looks like they're on tour in the UK, and heading to the Burgh, which could be fun.
On a similar note, I've posted this before, but it can't hurt to do it again:
