Hi everyone!
Joined the forum today after lurking around for a little while. I returned to O last year after far too long away from the sport* - Only finally discovering the whereabouts of my local Orienteering clubs whilst Googling for maps of a local POC during the first lockdown - And since returning I've pretty much fallen into a headlong Obsession with it!
(* - Note to school trainers: If any of your juniors show an interest or talent in O, FGS please make sure they are introduced to their local O clubs! For some reason I wasn't, and 20 years of lost running is a wound that really cuts deep! )
After returning last August I've been running as much as I've been able to, and so far seem to be competing fairly well at Orange level, as well as getting my first top-rank in a Score a few weeks ago. I'm hoping to be at a respectable standard on Greens by the end of this year, and do occasionally dig blue or brown maps out for solo training with a challenge!
Other than navigation and cross-country running, my other interests include cycling, Technology/Information Security, Railways, Travel, and probably way too many other things besides. I think my avatar shows off the three main ones pretty well, with bonus points (And a beer) due to anyone who can identify where the other two come from!
Have to admit I am hugely happy to discover this forum - Facebook's the true curse of the Internet - And it's a real relief there is somewhere runners can go to chat without having their data abused and sold-off in the process!
(That, and phpBB is vastly superior to Facebook in any case. Unlike FB, phpBB works on anything! )
Anyhow...I have a habit of typing rather long posts so I'll clip it at that for the moment. Looking forward to being able to meet other runners on a platform where social pressure and like-pharming aren't the order of the day!

Welcome!
It certainly makes a change to hear such a positive spin on this forum. I'm more used to seeing ppl grumble about the "vintage" feel of this site, and of course the lack of a "like" button
I hope you enjoy your O!
