SPOTY Rules wrote:TEAM OF THE YEAR
For the team in an individual sport or sporting discipline that has achieved the most notable performance in the calendar year to date. The team should have significant UK interest or involvement.
For the avoidance of doubt, this criteria excludes Team GB/ParalympicsGB but includes the likes of British Cycling, Rowing Coxless Four and the European Ryder Cup team.
Individuals as a part of teams eg a rower would be ok. Sir Stephen Redgrave has won as an individual even though he was part of a rowing pair/team.
A team could be British Cycling which would be all the cyclists as a team or British swimmers, but I don't think athletics counts as a team. Cyclists/swimmers could therefore win as individuals & as part of a team.
