The TeamGB kit for the London Olympics has been launched. Designer Stella McCartney said: "The first place to start on a project like this is to look at the Union flag. For me it's one of the most beautiful flags in the world and it was important for me to stay true to that iconic design but also to modernise it and present it in a contemporary way. Ultimately, we wanted the athletes to feel like a team and be proud with the identity we created."

No one there seems to have considered that physcological research has shown that people are more competitive when wearing red. They've chosen to emphasise the more passive blue (and this is from a Birmingham City supporter)

Has nobody told Stella McCartney that athletes have to wear numbers, and that her 'iconic' flaggy thing will be invisible? All you'll see is a tee shirt with Great Britain written on it. Is it too late to start a campaign for the return of a white vest with red and blue hoops? And while we're on the subject, if they can change the Sunday Trading Laws for the Olympics, can we have Shed Seven's 'Going for Gold' as the National Anthem for the duration?
And that's before you get me started on the torch 'relay' which seems to consist of putting the torch in the back of a car between towns then running round the streets for a bit then back in the car. It's a parade not a relay. Let's just hope none of the relay runners climbs a wall somewhere.
And finally, the first place in Cumbria where the torch is being paraded is Brough, but 'no runners from Cumbria' are taking part in the relay round the town. 89 year old Kendal resident Maurice Collett from SROC is the only local orienteer mentioned round here, but he's running round Aysgarth, miles away in the Yorkshire Dales.
