Re: Wettest O area?
Where did the ginger cat at the registration table at Kingsbury appear from? Did he (most likely male being ginger) follow any runners? Presumably he knew the local routes so he could stay dry?
I've occasionally stopped to pat a cat during an urban event (plus cattle, horses etc depending on what I find), which probably costs me a few seconds, but improves my enjoyment, but I've never seen an animal except a a dog hanging round at registration.

Has there ever been an event on Seathwaite Fell, officially the wettest place in England (highest rainfall, that is). Then again, there are a few places in Scotland which could put it to shame.

Berkshire Orienteers have 'Dinton Pastures Country Park' http://www.bko.routegadget.co.uk/bko/reitti.cgi?act=map&id=17&kieli=. In fact with the River Loddon flowing through the area, we have several times had to cancel an event due to flooding.

Sale Water Park springs to mind - lots of water and little of anything else. I remember mapping it for GMOA back in the late '80's - can't find map just now, but someone might be able to help?

Only times I have been there were canoeing on the Mersey (not as bad as you might be thinking, it's a lot cleaner than it used to be). Think its now been renamed Trafford Water Park. Going farther back to the '70s- steam rising off the Manchester S*** Canal when there's snow on the ground - now that tells you something about water quality !

http://www.mdoc.routegadget.co.uk/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi?act=map&id=67&kieli= I do believe. A lot of water and a fair amount of M60.
