How about a new sort of orienteering? It takes place in artificially created 'areas' that are formed by flattening paths through otherwise deep snow. Flatten the paths well and they are runnable in o shoes, try and take a short cut and you sink up to your waist.
I have put a picture of a doodle i made in the snow by walking about in my snowshoes, the fact it lookes a little like a treestump symbolises the migration of our sport from forests into urban areas
Could we 'create' new areas by flattening areas in snow and making them runnable in ordinary o shoes whilst leaving the rest virgin?
To see more examples of possible areas, try the yahoogroups i have created.

Have you seen this video?
EBOR put on a snow maze "event" in York last winter - it looked like great fun.
