I bought a Mac last year when my PC went into catastrophic meltdown. I still use the PC but only for work with OCAD.
I would never go back to using a PC. From the word 'go' the Mac was easy to use, and I've had absolutely no problems. Personally, I find the quality and definition of colours, text and videos on the screen considerably better.
Another bonus - mobileme holds your emails, contacts, photos, and the back up of all your data which can be accessed from any computer with internet connection (only with your username and password), and in addition the Mac comes with a program for making websites - simply drag an drop photos into place, write text and you can pretty much have the setup you want.

I think you may have answered your own question here. Most people don't choose a Windows machine, it chooses them. They most likely are unaware that there is a choice. Try a Mac, they are very easy, intuitive machines to use.

Well, I've got a mac and I prefer it over windows, but that doesn't make me a 'fanatic'.
When I wanted to start mapping/planning for orienteering events I got a copy of windows (for other reasons as well) and installed that on my mac as well. So now I've effectively got a mac and a pc on my mac and it works fine for me.

I used to run Windows but for the last 4 years have been on a Mac and wouldn't go back. Plus side is with Virtual box or boot camp you can run Windows with ease if you have to!
