I see from our local news page that Hereford NHS is offering £15 gifts to people who stop smoking such as health spa visits - I feel a bit miffed about this - surely those who never started should be rewarded too - and I could just do with a health spa visit to help counter-act the general greyness of this interminable winter, and after all people who stop will be £15 better off in a matter of days.
scrounge a cigarette, light it, take a puff and then declare you have stopped smoking and proceed immediately to the spa - given the NHS focus on targets vice reality you will be regarded as a target successful achieved. You may be able to get 3 or 4 spas a year
Sounds like a freebe marketing thing from the overpriced spa industry to generate some free advertising. It will still be a lot of money for a couple of slices of cucumber and a hot bath.
Don't be sad Mrs. H, I'm surprised you haven't seen the publicity opportunity. Ring up the paper and offer anyone who has given up smoking 50% off entry for the next MADO - some slogan like "Don't be a smoking sado - go to a MADO" etc etc.
For every winner, there are dozens of losers. Odds are you're one of them.
I've stopped smoking!!! Well most of the time!!! and its all because of orienteering. I could do with a spa, don't fancy moving house!! They don't have schemes like that in Norfolk!
Come to think of it there are lots of free/reduced offers you could sensationalise in order to get free publicity for orienteering.
Slightly seriously: Overweight people: As orienteering is definately a fat burning activity 50% off entry fee for anyone who has a BMI of 30+
Maybe not so: Bankers: 50% off - as people are always telling you to get lost, why not get lost going orienteering? Only applicable to score events where there bankers will be given a big bonus score at the end, even if they can't find any controls.
For every winner, there are dozens of losers. Odds are you're one of them.
