I didn't realise other people liked the Malcolm Middleton album - my boyfriend has been going on about it for ages. Is pretty good, though I'm not sure it's the best thing that came out last year.

On the subject of scottish indie bands. Do any of the Sheffield based people (or others wanting to travel) want to buy a ticket to Belle & Sebastian. I can't go.

thanks kitch, i thought about saying that, but decided against it in the end. and yes, the go team album was 2004, i bought it from fopp the day it came out, i would guess at october/november. middleton prob isnt the best, but it means the most to me. id probably go for arcade fire as the "best". and rocky, what aboot that editors album i lent you? no good? and everyone should see belle and sebastien at least once. they might play some old songs and you will fall in love with the person next to you.

thats very true about belle and sebastian. i was wanting to go with my lady but it sold out before i got tickets. we've seen them one and a bit times before anyhoo.

no tis very good, but i only listed cds i'd actually gone into a shop and paid money for.

i know its not 2005 by any stretch of the imagination but i just heard "Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)" by The Doors and i can't believe i've not heard it before, such an anthemic drinking song.

my favourite album which i got last year would be we are scientists, with hard-fi and bloc party coming close behind. keep meaning to get arcade fire, but never got round to it, one day soon perhaps.

duck - good shout on slovo. great album, but older than last year i think? came out in 2004 methinks. (it may be one of those albums that got rereleased after a poor first half, like Zero 7's 'simple things'.)

Can I add to my list 'Gods and Monsters' by I Am Kloot? Was released 2005 but I only got it yesterday, but its brilliant. Also Starsailor - On the Outside is a fantastic album.
