yeah, i didn't know rammstein had another new album until today. amerika is on reise, reise.
i really like system of a down as well, just to disappoint some people. -although the new album hypnotize (actually second part of mezmerize/hypnotize double) is perhaps even better and was out in november.
i suppose favourite album of 2005 would have to go to queens of the stone age, in the words of bo selecta "i jas bluddy luf them!". and iberia feckin lost the album too.

I think I've only got two 2005 albums, so it's a toss-up between "Von Hier an Blind" by Wir Sind Helden or "Demon Days" by Gorillaz. Victory probably goes to the Helden.
If autumn-2004-but-not-acquired-until-2005 albums count then Leonard Cohen's "Dear Heather" would be in the mix as well.
(note to the Dire Straits fans - Mark Knopfler's last solo album "The Ragpicker's Dream" is also top quality)

NO no no! Dear Heather is rubbish! If you like leoneard cohen then surely you can see that was pish compared to the previous albums? I'm not one to force my opinions of music on others normally, but really... it was utter pish. i have banned my dad from playing it in the house when i am home.
My fave album of last year would be franz ferdinand, and they were fab live too
good decision saturday morning to find some tickets i feel

I'd hardly say it was pish - took a couple of listens to get into, but I'd call it just a progression from 10 New Songs rather than pish. The fact that the style of music on Leonard Cohen albums is constantly shifting (straightforward folky on the first few, through Spector's wall of sound and electro to subdued tinkling) is what makes them interesting - and the music is mainly there as a backdrop to the lyrics anyway, which are still just as good (even if a couple of songs on Dear Heather are other people's poetry)

Since i know very little of the music industry in these times, i think only bands ive heard of should be considered. This will thus ensure them to be famous enough to be really good.

2005 cds i own: Ed Alleyne Johnson, Surferosa, and The Go! Team. The go! Team probably win out of them.
but i found an album called OK Cowboy by Vitalic online and i can't stop playing it. don't know anything about them, but its lovely synth based electro with rock and pop inspirations.
very good music to run to i expect, though i havn;t tried it yet.

don't think I bought many CDs last year - of the one's I did it's got to go to The Subways with Young for Eternity, also amazing live
Only other's I bought that were released last year were Foo Fighters In You Honour and System of a Down Mezmerize
Both good but don't like the Foos album as much as their older stuff and System is great for comedy value and playing very loud.

oh rocky

currently undecided as to whether to go and see them next month, they're meant to be a bit hit or miss live, but now that the amazing smoosh are supporting, who also released an amazing album last year "she like electric" and their newer stuff sounds better still.
subway's album is pretty guid, but they're better live.

The Go! Team played Warwick last term - hadn't heard the album before so didn't know them - only problem was that the volume of music just drowned everything out (and the vocals) and became just noise (and it wasn't Warwick's sound system)-. Thought they could be good though
like the way everyone plays pretty much eveything - go see them and decide
