To be a little cynical, the interviewer has to like you, if being professional they should be thinking:
"could I work with this person?"
"could my team work with this person?"
But just as likely to be thinking:
"could I go to the pub at lunchtime with this person?"
"if this person sat next to me on the bus, would I get off at the next stop?"
You could use orienteering to pass these questions: try saying
"Organising the last regional event involved liasing with many different types of people such as landowners, members of the press, wildlife officers and competitors."
"Selecting the team for the British Champs required tact and diplomacy to keep everyone happy and motivated".
Try to avoid saying:
"I'm no good at team sports, that's why I do orienteering"
"I like the kit"
"My friend eats badgers"
