I freely admit that my musical opinion is not one to be relied on and am preparing to run for cover from Becks' scathing comments. However, when I saw SOAD live I thought they were awesome. Haven't heard the recent album tho.

Santa didn't bring me Kate Bush or Demon Days so I'm making do with the triple compliation "The Real Eighties" with all the extended and remixed versions from my teenage years. It's a brilliant retrospective - listen to the orignals now before Westlife release a cover version.
(PS Arctic Monkeys were being touted as the band of 2006 (yes 2006) on Radio 4 last week)

actually, "the subways - young for eternity" was great aswell, so maybe that was a better album...or "queens of the stoneage - lullabies to paralyze"
Crap at the end!?! Lost in Hollywood and Violent Pornography are the best songs on it!
maybe "crap" was a bit harsh, but quite a few of the tracks towards the end sound a bit mis-matched towards the end to me. still a great album though.

Seems the only 2005 CDs that I actually own are "The Disney Collection" and Rammstein's Rosenrot.
Both good though.
Both good though.

Is that the album that has Amerika on it? That song is amazing, so angry.
Just came back from Italy and I very nearly bought an cd of this italian dude who sounds like phil collins, the night after getting stick for saying i liked it when it came on in a bar in milan. im sure brooner would disapprove since i guess more than 150 italians own this cd. But it would definitely have been a candidate for "physical urination of money 2006".
Speaking of urination whats with the toilets in milan, we had girls in our group that couldnt go cos basically all toilets in restaurants, bars are just a hole in the ground that looks like a shower without the showerhead? And it was just milan, not anywhere else, is it something that all the cool fashionable people do?

While we're on italy has anyone ever organised a street o in venice before?
I think demon days - gorillaz wins my vote.

Amerika was on their 2004 album, but yeah good song. Rosenrot only came out in early November (roughly).

compilations and best ofs are not albums. we have been through this before. its a copout
Fair point. In that case I shall revise my opinion to the slightly more expensive but equally great - Bison "The Beast with Nine Backs". This is truely brilliant stuff. Local Sheffield band, 9 members using everything from Double Bass to Djembas and back again. Sort of like a New Orleans Jazz Band with a more upbeat feel, trumpets and songs about sunny days and beer. Great party band.
Oh and Dropkick Murphys "The Warrior's Code" is pretty good too, though noone else I know likes it

Fair play
