live lounge good. the guys are fine. they're young and probably already fed up with the hype. they said they were just happy that noel galagher knew the name- even though he said they wouldn't do any good!
i'm three tracks into the album right now and i think the production is absolutely superb. it sounds rich and flowing, retaining a lot of the raw noise. the songs do sound slightly different, they're better. competely finished articles. polished. amazing.

Samsonite, since when have you been a victim of the hype machine? Just heard my third Arctic Monkeys tune and for crying out loud, I've heard more interesting brown bears repeatedly bash their heads against concrete walls in rubbish Eastern European zoos. I mean I expect it off Mr Furness, but you?
That may be a slight untruth but come on guys - you must be seriously bored if these guys are being heralded as the next best things since sliced bread. About as exciting as Athlete.
Tripe.
Pah.

as u well know belinda, its nothing to do with the hype machine.
i just like them. i liked ...dancefloor long before there was any hype, when it was a demo mp3 doing the rounds.
i dont think they are the best thing ever, but i like them.
just remember that pretty much the heaviest rotation in your rooom was magic numbers and bloc party (apart from the might death cab of course) before you started spending all your time with that strange lad who likes obscure scottish indie
you know fine well they aint as bad as the 'thlete.
pah indeed.
incidentally i shall being seeing arctic monkeys tomorrow night, but im more excited about maximo park again.
more late night phonecalls from my good self and mr mcmillan to sing 'grafitti' if your not careful.

Oh come on, Bloc Party are sooo much better than the monkeys...all apocalyptic menace and brooding...mmm mmm. It's only because you're rarely home that you don't realise they're still on rotation whenever the long haired Scotsman isn't about
And the Magic Numbers are fantastic, sound so sweet and chirpy and when you actually listen to the lyrics they're so cynical and twisted.
I stand by my choices and still tell you the Arctic Monkeys are a big pile of poo. Boring, derivative. Has nothing to do with the fact everyone else likes them!
It's been too long since you last sung graffitti at me. I feel unloved. I'd better give you El's number too...

becks, wrong wrong wrong!!!
the reason i like the monkeys is the way the bass lines/riffs/drums are for dancing to. think dancing shoes, and when the sun goes down (and others). its kinda like what the rapture did, but a bit heavier. quirky rhythms. they make me bounce just a little bit. coupled to the other songs which are indeed just good harmless rock and roll. therefore;
band=cool
on the other hand, i love pulp again at the minute. his'n'hers is absolute gold. that too has some quirky cool riffs/hooks for bouncing.
conclusion=James just likes bouncing.

Ah they're nothing like the Rapture!
Mr Furness you must come and DJ and our possible new club night not yet named and not really happening as yet.
And Nailest - without your favourite band are rubbish I'd never get it through a working day.

frodo concurs with the honourable mr furness. i have in my grasp both the maximo park and arctic monkeys albums and both are class. babyshambles is also surprisingly good although the singles version of kilamangiro is better than the album version, they should have left that well alone.

Well, I've got the Artic Monkeys album and it's crackin. If you don't like it you're obviously a jobby.

can't say i think much of the monkeys, though there was a pretty cool mash up with the killers on the hype machine the other day. theyre nothing special though, and should definitely not be in the nme top 10 british albums of all time list
having said that, half of the stuff on there is tripe.

something needs to be done about the youth. this is not even funny.
arctic monkeys were really good btw. not a band ill ever see again, but really good anyway. as were maximo park and we are scientists. mystery jets are rubbish though.
im not sure how arctic monkeys sound anything like the rapture, but never mind.
and there is nothing wrong with bloc party or magic numbers, but if your going to throw stones and talk about hype...
heard babies by pulp yesterday. its now my favourite pulp song.
unloved you say? aw, pal, im pure sorry an' 'at. what about if i come up with a decent name for the clubnight today? will u forgive me?

god bless the music press...
cos they made you believe the strokes are the best
insert arctic monkeys in place of the strokes...
someone raving about the new album yesterday proclaimed that it "has changed the face of music". if anyone can back this up i'd love to know how. i can tell you now that neither the libertines or the arctic monkeys will appear in a top 10 of the best british albums of all time in a couple of years, yet most of the others will remain. they'll be lucky to be in the top 50. its a fad, and fads dont last.
from what i've heard of the arctic monkeys (ok so i've not heard the whole album, but apparently the "best" songs from it) it sounded pretty dull and repetitive to me. I don't mind "ibylgotdf" but everything else appears rather uninspired.
i'd love to understand the hype machine, understand that and you can write some throw away rubbish and become a number 1 artist in next to no time. i'd also love to understand the ridiculousness of the general public and its sheep like tendancies.
in other news i'm off to buy my 3rd single of the year
mogwai: friend of the night.
my band is better than your band,
we've got more songs than a song convention,
sing it.
