Crispy - and of course Garway Hill Common is an O area but hasn't been used since the demise of WYE orienteers. I don't think copse wood was mapped though.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

well, at least half of nope members must have passed a contol at Embankment in London during their lives, and we pass Bankfoot every time we head to the Cairngorms.
lots more in this country but, although they may not have much else going for them, the Pitcairn islanders got two controls in their country's name. Pitcairn also sounds a typical orienteering venue 'no sealed roads, or sewage treatment or reliable electricity'
Plus ( doubters visit map at http://www.lareau.org/pitc.html ) they cram at least three common orienteers' expressions or injuries into their place names. I've spotted "Oh Dear" "Ah Cut" and "Break Im Hip" They have a "Big Pool" to boot.....eat your heart Middlemarsh, Westcliffe, East Hyde et al
Is Bendover screaming for mercy yet?

On the subject of place names, it always strikes me as cheeky how developers seem to name new housing estates in greenfield areas after what used to be there before the houses, such as 'The Coppice', 'The Meadows' or 'Oakwood Park' (all taken from Wimpey Homes).

Pictures are better than words because sometimes words are big and hard to understand.

Aha - a bit of constabulary related wordplay - that's quite funny.
Just around the corner from my grandma’s house in Conisbrough there was an old lane called Butt Hole Road – presumably leading to some sort of butt (water or shooting?). Me and my brother thought this was quite funny when we were little. When a developer built houses there they sensibly retained the name. It has since become quite famous (try googling “Butt Hole Road – apparently they have trouble with people dropping their trousers and taking photographs by the sign). The name doesn’t appear at all on Multimap and only as BHR on streetmap.

adjacent to the S in Sheffield Road

I'm actually rather disappointed by the lack of imagination of the developers where I live http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/4056/tour04.html. The main road on is Hospital Lane, but apart from that you'd think it was a civil war battle site. I'd much rather live in Lunatic Road or Insanity Close

Wow - I had to check Letsby Avenue as I thought the map had been doctored (I'm not accusing Mr Furness here)! I'm amazed it got through all of the planning stages. Ir brought back memories of childhood jokes...

It is on the Garway map from the early 1990's A great area and not too heavy on the Curse of Herefordshire. (ie not to many vertical green lines on the map)
