I have heard mutterings around the results boards at events about this issue several times now. It appears that the older runners in our sport are resenting the success of juniors. Comments overheard have been “******** youngsters, no respect anymore, shouldn’t be allowed” and similar.
The oldies appear to think that juniors doing well, often winning on light greens is good experience and in a way sweet. The problem comes when juniors wipe the floor with their elders on greens (not blues and browns yet). It appears the oldies resent the juniors trespassing on “their” courses. 2 recent results, Birches Valley (WCH) on 5th Nov and Dalby Forest (EBOR) on 12th Nov are good (or bad depending on your age) examples, the latter had 3 M12s in the top four!!
I suggest that when results are posted there are 2 lists, junior result list for M14 and below, and senior for M16 and above. In this way everyone is happy, juniors don’t have to plough through so many names and can see how they compare against their own age group, seniors don’t have to put up with gloating juniors around the results boards and the temptation to kick them in the shins is hopefully reduced.

I had to double-check that this is on the banter forum.
Colour coded events allow competitors of all ages and abilities to choose a course that suits them best on the day, and it also allows juniors to improve skills and techniques by trying courses of increasing technical and physical challenge. The fact that this then gives them the chance to knock spots off seniors is part of the fun, and if it gives juniors an incentive, great.
Never mind publishing 2 separate lists of results for juniors and seniors at District events, there is a good case to be made for publishing results for Regional and higher events by course as well as by class, so that runners (of all ages) can compare themselves against all those who ran the same course.
Power to the kids, I say

For the last few years the Scottish O League guidelines have said the results should be put up by course(although on the day it doesn't always happen.)
The web results show both by class and club but I can't see any point in doing this for District events.

IF they really don't like it then stick to the badge events.

I agree that this was a silly idea, which was why it was in this forum. 8 hours of using solvent based paints in a confined space may have had something to do with it.
I was not complaining, simply reporting some comments,as I said "I have heard". I don't mind at all if juniors, or others beat me, hopefully I have a few years (?) before my eldest starts it. Even you have beaten me Bedders, but that was only because some youth was yelling at me and made me run past the first control.....
