Who is doing crazy races in 2005?
Last year Barrable and I ran Dunder Dygnet up in the far north of Sweden http://www.dunderdygnet.se - highly recommend this just for the midnight sun fell race and road race 600m underground, 9-10 july this year.
Joyit ran the Crazy race also in Sweden which is supposed to be pretty fun. Was the same weekend as dunder dygnet last year.
& I've just heard word of some pretty crazy races in Wales same weekend - must be the time of year for crazy races..
On Sat 9th July, the world mountain bike bog snorkelling
championships will be held. On Sun 10th July, the inaugral world bog
snorkelling triathlon championship will be held (12 mile XC run, 120yard bog
snorkel, 25 mile MTB race):
Check out this excerpt from http://llanwrtyd-wells.powys.org.uk/bog.html:
This is your real opportunity to become a world famous athletic hero fancy putting First ever World Champion Bog
Snorkelling Triathlete on your CV? To achieve this unique title, you will
have to run about 12 miles, then swim through the world famous bog
snorkelling trench and then undertake a gruelling mountain bike ride of
approximately 25 miles, no doubt crossing the occasional bog, ford, river,
stream etc. All in all, a challenging and unique event. And what about the
kudos that goes with this title? The world could be your oyster! Guys and
gals alike - you will love it.
The Run
will take place over undulating countryside with some road bits and a run
through Llanwrtyd Wells, the smallest town in Britain, so mainly off road
with 'muddy' bits!
The Snorkel
will take place in two 60 yard long (total distance of 120 yards) four foot
deep trenches cut through a dense peat bog. Competitors will require snorkel
and flippers (provide your own - none for hire). Conventional swimming
strokes are NOT permitted. Flippers must be used for propulsion only and
hands used for doggy paddle only - any other strokes = disqualification.
The Bike Ride
will take place through undulating countryside, through forestry, rough
trakcs and some single tracks; it will be mainly off road with some 'muddy'
bits
The Relay
In addition to individual entries, teams of 3 persons may enter, one person
for each discipline. An individual entrant may use the first leg (the run)
as part of the relay team entry.
The Glory
There will be many prizes for individuals and relay teams alike; all
competitors who finish will receive some sort of memento!

might be doing that as my housemate has already put in an entry!
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.
