Well I've been out here for roughly 6 weeks now and i have almost settled in. I''m getting to know the job now and the accomodation on the bungalow holiday park is satisfactory; there are always holiday makers coming and going and sometimes we have a kick-about with them. There are three main jobs to do when you are a track marshall. That is opening the boom/gate to bring the carts into the pits at the end of the race. Standing in the pits and ensuring all drivers stay seated until the last cart is in (so that there are no nasty whip lash accidents), and standing out on the far hairpin bend because a lot of drivers loose control and spin into the barrier. These have to be pushed back out on the the track. For the first two or three weeks the park was still closed and we spent that time preparing the track; painting the cabin, painting the steel barrier with bitumen and painting the tyres white.
I've been orienteering twice since i 've been here. Street orienteering and along a beach
See ya
