Unfortunately the classic Czech 5 organised by Novy Bor (http://www.ok-bor.cz/bohemia/) clashes with the Scottish 6 Days this year. However, for those of you interested in some rocky terrain orienteering, there are two other weekend events very close to Prague that you might be interested in.
Both weekends involve a chasing start sort of ray on the Saturday and another race on the Sunday.
13.-14.8.2005 SJC Jicin, which is about 80-90km NE of Prague, with reasonable bus connections etc.
As I said, Chasing start on the Saturday, plus a middle on Sunday. For this event there is also a night O on Friday evening. The details can be found on http://objicin.tpc.cz/jicin/index.php (SJC Jicin's website) or go directly to the details on http://objicin.tpc.cz/jicin/data/Valecov2005eng.doc.
20.-21.8.2005 OB Turnov
They haven't put the details on the website yet, but the person I contacted told me it will be centred in Kacanovy (http://www.mapy.cz/search.py?&sz=1&lo=5 ... 95689&zi=3), very close to Jicin again. He said the details ought to be up on the web by end of April-ish so I will post links to them when they're available. The Saturday will be a chasing sprint and Sunday is a classic (I'm pretty sure). This is a traditional Czech event to finish the summer holiday orienteering.
I will be in the Czech Republic for both weekends, and was thinking of entering one of the events or possibly even both. If anyone wants to come, I can possibly help with sorting out some accommodation in Prague (and by acting as a translator!!). At the moment, Czech Airlines flights are around 75 return for the relevant period, and EasyJet might even be cheaper.

The details for this event can be accessed from http://www.ob-turnov.drings.cz/peknepra ... /index.htm (or directly via the details page http://www.ob-turnov.drings.cz/peknepra ... rozpis.htm). Unfortunately they are just in Czech, but I can translate bits if needed. As I understand, you are supposed to enter via the online system on http://www.obhana.cz/Prihlasky.asp (again, I'm happy to help with translating, just let me know).
